Adeleke Wins Second Term As Osun Gov

Governor Ademola Adeleke has won a second term as governor of Osun State, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in Saturday’s governorship election.

Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes to defeat Oyebamiji, who scored 444,815 votes.

The result, announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday, gave Adeleke a winning margin of 66,252 votes.

Adeleke won in 19 of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji secured victory in 11 LGAs.

The governor’s victory means he will remain in office for another four years.

Declaring the result, the Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, said Adeleke had satisfied the requirements of the law and was therefore declared winner and returned elected.

The result places Adeleke among the few governors in Osun State’s history to secure a second elected term.
