The 2027 Ogun State governorship race gathered momentum on Sunday as the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), commissioned his ultra-modern four-storey gubernatorial campaign headquarters in Abeokuta, describing the development as the beginning of a new phase in the contest.

The campaign office, located in Ibara, Abeokuta, was commissioned by the Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemisi Sanusi, alongside prominent traditional rulers, including the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Gbadebo, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, and the Olubara of Ibara, Oba Jacob Omolade.

The event attracted top APC leaders, former deputy governors, former senators, lawmakers, government officials and religious leaders.

Reflecting on the project, Adeola said the headquarters, which commenced from the foundation two years ago, was completed “to the glory of God.”

According to him, “What happened today in Abeokuta was more than the opening of a campaign office. It was the unveiling of a movement with a clear direction and a bold vision for Ogun State.”

He added that the atmosphere, organisation and large turnout at the event showed that “the 2027 governorship election has entered a new phase.”

Adeola said his campaign would focus on “purposeful leadership, strategic planning, robust grassroots structures and meaningful interaction with the people.”

He also urged political actors to elevate the campaign, saying, “The focus should no longer be on noise or personal attacks, but on ideas, achievements, competence and the capacity to deliver.”

“As the race unfolds, every aspirant will have the opportunity to present a record of service and a roadmap for the future. Ultimately, the people of Ogun State will decide based on credibility, performance and trust,” he said.

Declaring that “the politics of 2027 will be different,” Adeola added: “One thing is certain: Senator Solomon Adeola (Yayi) is setting the pace.”

Among dignitaries at the event were the APC deputy governorship candidate, Alhaja Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun and her husband, Dr. Rasaq Balogun; Secretary to the State Government, Pastor Tokunbo Talabi, who represented Governor Dapo Abiodun; Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daisi Elemide; former deputy governors Senator Gbenga Kaka, Alhaja Salmot Badru and Prince Segun Adesegun, as well as former Speakers of the House of Assembly, former senators and other political leaders.
