Members of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) of Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) branch, on Wednesday protested at the Ijora-Badia secretariat over the alleged slap of a colleague by the council boss’ personal assistant, Mrs. Toyin Jimoh last week.

The protesting workers shut the gate against their colleagues, politicians including the

council boss, Alhaja Olufunmilayo Mohammed, chanting slogans, and refusing them access to the council’s premises.

Several police officers, and members of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) were part of the crowd of fascinated onlookers, who watched the noisy protest.

Sources told OrijoReporter that last Wednesday the executive secretary, Alhaja Olufunmilayo Mohammed’s Personal Assistant, Mrs. Toyin Jimoh, a politician like her boss, slapped a female civil servant during an argument.

It was said that the NULGE leadership in the council decided to protest after waiting in vain for the council boss to penalize her aide.

Last year’s October, the council was enmeshed in near crisis after the Executive Secretary, Alhaja Funmilayo Mohammed sacked 60 female workers mostly widows.
