5 Things You Should Know About MTN Media Innovation Programme

Applications for the second edition of the MTN Media Innovation Programme are now open to all interested and qualified media practitioners across print, electronic, and online platforms, including social media content creators. 

If you’re curious about the details of this programme, we’ve highlighted five things to provide clarity:  

• It is a fully funded programme by MTN Nigeria: In 2022, MTN Nigeria commenced this course to contribute to improving the skills of journalists within the technology space. At the conception of the MTN Media Innovation Programme, N300 million was designated to the programme to execute three editions of the Fellowship. The funds allocated cover courses at the School of Media and Communications, Pan-Atlantic University and an all-expense paid study trip to the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa, amongst other benefits. 
• It is in partnership with Pan-Atlantic University:  The MTN Media Innovation Programme has a curriculum created and executed by the School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic University. It is in-depth, and Fellows will be awarded a certificate of participation that asserts their new understanding of technology, digital media, media ethics, emotional intelligence and others. A certificate will also be obtained from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. 
• MIP is open to 20 media practitioners: The MTN Media Innovation Programme will consist of 20 Fellows across various platforms. From the wide array of applications, Pan-Atlantic University will carefully scrutinize the eligibility of each applicant before choosing the 20 applicants that will participate in the second edition of the programme. 
• Applications close on the 3rd of April, 2023. Interested and qualified journalists can apply for the second edition of the MTN Media Innovation Programme till the 3rd of April 2023. 
• Applications are free. There is no application cost for this programme. All you need to do is visit https://mtnmip.smc.edu.ng. If you encounter any indication for payment, please be sure that it’s not the right application portal.
