The move is being interpreted in political circles as limiting the chances of the Deputy Governor from empowering his political allies for the next two years.

Insiders say the Governor implementing the move is being teleguided by those who helped him to power.

Sources added that the political play against the Deputy Governor is not a novel initiative but just one of the most severe uses of the tactic.

“It is not new, nor is it peculiar to the state. Just that it is coming very early compared to other instances in the past,” insiders disclosed.

The Governor is said to be implementing the strategy against his deputy as part of efforts to prove loyalty and smoothen recent rough edges with his sponsors.
