18-year old Iliya Raymond, Patience Dahyop Emerge Winners Of 21km Bayelsa Marathon 

The wife of the Governor of Bayelsa State, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri, today presented medals and cheques to winners of the 5th edition of 21 km SDD Bayelsa Marathon in Yenagoa.

18-year old Iliya Raymond from Plateau State emerged the male champion while Patience Dahyop also from Plateau State won the female category.

It was a great outing where  471 athletes participated in the different categories of 21km, 10km for students and 3km for those who ran for pleasure.

Mrs. Diri congratulated the winners and encouraged more young Bayelsans to embrace sports and build a career in it.

Commissioner for Sports Development, Dr. Daniel Igali, assured that the competition would assume an international status in the next edition.

Lead organiser, Odonkumo Igbeita, appreciated the Bayelsa State Government and Governor Douye Diri, for his support to the sustenance of the annual marathon.
