Why CBN Gov, Sanusi Lamido’s Ambition Is To Become Emir Of Kano
+ aspiration makes him an outcast
The Governor of the nation’s apex banking institution has a life long ambition- and he doesn’t hide it.
He wants to be the Emir of Kano.
And the reason for this passion is very simple for those familiar with his history.
The C.B.N Governor wants to avenge a perceived injustice done to his clan.
His grand father was deposed as the Emir of Kano- a development that earned him untold derision and virtually pushed him to the extreme end of his faith, Islam. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi
A window into his existence on the trail of the development is encapsulated in this report ‘ Why Abacha Didn’t Kill CBN Gov, Sanusi In 1995…His Role In Akaluka’s Murder’ (click to read story).
Now an upstanding member of the society- Lamido Sanusi has never shy away from making his ambition of becoming the Emir of Kano known.
At a finance industry event recently- he reiterated his life long ambition ‘publicly’, irrespective of the fact that, a sitting Emir is in place.
Such conducts are said to have placed him on the part of opposing side in Kano.
He is said to be hugely unpopular in that part of the country with his wealth and influence.
The royalty are said to be against him for his lack of tack and respect for custom and tradition.
But the CBN Governor is said to entertain little care over the royalty’s attitude- he is said to rely on influence within Government circle to achieve his aim.
How feasible this is, with a resident Emir of Kano remains to be seen.
