Why Banks Open By 10a.m, Close By 2.30/3p.m In Ijebu Ode

Information filtering to societynowng.com revealed, unlike the norms – banking operations in Ijebu Ode, Ogun state, Southwest Nigeria is peculiar.

Sources on ground established the hours of operations are unusual.

‘’They open around 10.am and close shop by 2.30 to 3p.m’’ a source stated. According to information available to societynowng.com the earliest any bank in that part of town opens for business is 9/9.30 am and that is labelled a rarity.

Digs conducted by societynowng.com revealed that this peculiar situation was brought about by issues that revolve around ‘’security situation’’.

The banks are said to have fallen preys to dare devils armed bandits a couple of times and in the face of the challenge devised a means to limit their risks and at the same time cater to the needs of customers.

‘’the perception is that by 10á.m the people are fully roused the going ons in their surroundings to aid detection of suspicious movements and by 2.30p.m no too out of tune to do same…this is against background that security checks revealed earlier attacks were mostly carried out very early in the morning or late towards normal closing time of 3.30 /4.00p.m downwards’’ a source pointed out.

Societynwng.com further learnt that the adopted hours of 10a,m till 2.30 to 3p.m are kept to based on the presence of Armoured Personnel Carriers on hand for security purposes.

‘’Recently the APC stationed near some banks broke down, and they didn’t open for a week…that is the norms here’’ a source divulged.

Societynowng.com learnt the management of the banks concerned have insisted to stakeholders that they will stick 2.30 to 3p.m until the security situation improves.
