…as talks of payment of N500m ransom hits the street

The mother of former bank managing director and major stake holder in financial institution, Mr Tony Elumelu has regained her freedom.

This much was divulged to societynowng.com via a press statement sent by Mr Charles Aigbe, head of the corporate affairs unit at U.B.A.

The statement is reproduced below…

The Elumelu Family of Onicha Uku in Delta State, Nigeria, joyfully announce the safe
rescue of our matriarch – Chief (Mrs.) Suzanne Elumelu – after four days in
captivity.

The family wishes to thank Nigerians and friends from around the world for the

unprecedented outpouring of concern, solidarity, love and prayers during the
harrowing ordeal.

We are most grateful to the Federal Government, the Delta State Government and the respective law enforcement agencies for their professionalism, diligence and bravery
which led to her rescue.

At this time the family requests for privacy to spend time with Mama, and recover
from the emotional wounds and anguish of the last few days.

We pray for God’s continued blessing and protection over every one of us.

Thank you.

The statement was silent on whether a ransom was paid and the manner of release.

‎The rumour in town was that a N500m ransom was demanded by the kidnappers.
