Former Ogun State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Oladipupo Adebutu, has continued to project his political ambition ahead of the 2027 election, despite his exclusion from the Independent National Electoral Commission’s, INEC, final list of candidates.

Adebutu, in his November message to Ogun residents, PDP members and supporters, reaffirmed his commitment to what he described as the collective pursuit of a better Ogun State, urging party faithful to remain united and steadfast.

The message comes amid uncertainty over his participation in the February 6, 2027 governorship election and signals his determination to sustain his political engagement in the state.

“The dream of a prosperous Ogun State where every citizen has a fair chance to thrive remains alive,” Adebutu said, stressing the need for good governance, fairness, accountability and people-centred leadership.

He also expressed hope that the new month would bring better opportunities for different segments of the population, saying he wished farmers “bountiful harvests”, workers the fruits of their labour and youths meaningful opportunities.

The former lawmaker urged residents to remain committed to building a state where the welfare of the people is paramount and the dividends of democracy reach every community.

Addressing PDP members, Adebutu appreciated their loyalty and commitment despite the challenges confronting the party.

“Your faith in a better Ogun State remains a source of inspiration. Let us continue to stand together in love, peace, and solidarity,” he said.

His continued political engagement comes against the backdrop of his exclusion from INEC’s updated final list of candidates for the Ogun governorship election.

The development has raised questions about the PDP’s participation in the contest and its prospects of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state.

Adebutu, who contested against Governor Dapo Abiodun in 2023, concluded his message with an expression of optimism, saying he hoped November would usher in “new victories, fresh opportunities, and greater blessings” for Ogun residents.
