There is a quiet panic at telecommunication company, MTN.

And this development is attributed to floating talks of looming job loss in and around the offices of the multinational in the country.

According to the talks, the management of the telecommunication company are on the verge of making major decision – relocating key activities abroad.

The cost of using Nigeria as serving board for certain ‘critical operation’ is said to be running deep and beyond projection.

The company is said to be looking for ways at cutting cost.

And outside of this, there is also said to be what is labelled ‘uncertain political and economic climate’

According to an insider ‘ the company’s egg heads believe that the back and forth political tension doesn’t brood well for long term business plan’

Ruling and main opposition party were at each other’s jugular ahead general elections with heightened political tension and uncertainty that kept the economy that on stranglehold the order of the day.

In fighting that has taken hold of the new party in power with opposition fanning the embers has not abated the tension.

And added to the mix are talks of ongoing review of the operational license of the telecommunication company against the background of whispers of likely change of terms of engagement and entry of another mega player in the same terrain.

The escape from all the tension, MTN is said to be looking at relocation certain arms of it’s operation to Dubai.

A move said to have inherent consequence of massive job loss for indigenous staffers.

A development said to be causing quiet and intense panic amongst workers at the telecommunication company.

‘the fact that the company came out to threaten location of business during the fuel shortage days and has kept on about increasing cost of doing business in has not really helped the situation as well’ an insider disclosed.
Interestingly promoters of the expected new entrant are said to be coming from MTN’s talked about possible new base – Dubai.
