Oluwaloni Officially Sworn-In As Ayobo-Ipaja Council Chairman
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administered the oath of office
The leadership vacuum in Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State has been officially filled, as Oladipupo Oluwaloni was sworn in as the new council chairman on Thursday.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu administered the oath of office to Oluwoloni at a ceremony held in the Banquet Hall of the State House, Alausa.
The appointment follows the passing of the former chairman, Mrs. Bola Shobowale, who died two weeks ago after a prolonged illness.
Speaking at the event, Sanwo-Olu praised the late Shobowale for her dedication and service to the people of Ayobo-Ipaja, describing her as a “woman of substance” who worked tirelessly for the development of the council.
He emphasized that Oluwoloni’s appointment was aimed at ensuring continuity in governance and sustaining the reforms initiated by his late predecessor.
“Today, we are witnessing the swearing-in of Hon. Oladipupo Oluwoloni as the new chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja LCDA,” Sanwo-Olu said. “This occasion fulfills a constitutional responsibility to prevent a leadership vacuum following the unfortunate demise of Mrs. Bola Shobowale. His appointment is a testament to the confidence reposed in him by the government, political leaders, and the people of the council.”
The governor urged Oluwaloni to lead with fairness, transparency, and a strong commitment to service delivery. He also called on him to work closely with stakeholders, including political leaders and grassroots organizations, to accelerate development in the LCDA.
“Local Government is the closest tier of government to the people,” Sanwo-Olu noted. “It is the foundation of good governance, and I charge the new chairman to focus on initiatives that will enhance grassroots development, improve service delivery, and uplift the standard of living of residents.”
Oluwaloni, accompanied by his wife at the swearing-in ceremony, pledged to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor. He reaffirmed his commitment to infrastructure renewal and socio-economic growth in the council, promising to continue the development agenda initiated by the late Shobowale.
Sanwo-Olu also assured that his administration would continue to support the local council to fulfill its obligations to the people, ensuring that governance at the grassroots level remains effective and impactful.
