One of the wealthy Nigerians with credible business to back it up, Dr Taiwo Afolabi just clocked 50.

But true to type, the holder of national award, Member of the Order of Niger (MON) didn’t roll out the drums to celebrate in extravagance that would have paraded his wealth and net worth of influence for the world to see.

He opted to impact on the lives of the needy- via his mother’s foundation, Ajoke Ayisat Afolabi Foundation- an empowerment programme which serves all categories.

Outside of this, he didn’t stage any other special events- or attend ‘hostings’ that would have sign posted the golden jubilee celebration the regular.

Findings revealed that as part of the process to celebrate very quietly, he travelled to London to be with his family during this period.

Today after 22yrs in charge as the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Sifax Nigeria Limited, the professional maritime logistician has taken the company to towering heights with his astute business philosophies and in-depth management skills.

According to him ‘The firm is basically into ports, shipping and bonded terminal operations and in Tema Ghana, Durban, Houston USA, Rotterdam Belgium and London. We are also in Djibouti and Malabo, and Equatorial Guinea. We diverted into the aviation sector and took over the prestigious Skypower Aviation Handling Company Ltd. through its subsidiary, Skyway Aviation Handling Company Limited.”

The successes he has made in his business is replicated in his relationship with people- another secret of his trade.

He is said to take special care to impact on the lives of people he comes into contact with- he sees this as his major achievements.

And this trait has made a followership and loyalist of many to him.

His personal and business exploits have earned him a whole loads of accolades and awards from far and near.

Some of these recognitions are the Maritime Quality Service Award (MQSA), the ECOWAS International Gold Award, and he was appointed the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Djibouti with jurisdiction over the whole territory of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and full power and authority of His Excellence, Ismail Omah Guelleh, President of the Republic of Djibouti.

With a wife he defined as “loving, submissive, and respectful,” and acknowledges that his family life, would not have been a success without her- the influential Nigerian insist in a report that “I don’t feel the age and nothing has changed about me. I don’t feel different from when I was 40, in fact, I feel like I am 35,”
