Popular Ogun state gubernatorial aspirant who is a sitting Senator in Lagos state Olamilekan Solomon Adeola is exploring the option of contesting using an alternative political party.

The Lagos West Senator widely known as Yayi is a member of the All Progressives Congress but fellow party man and outgoing governor of Ogun state, Ibikunle Amosun is said to be passionately against his ambition.

“It is an open secret that Amosun is naturally keen to determine who succeeds him and has vowed Yayi would not be that person” a source pointed out.

And to compound Yayi’s woes, Amosun has a vice grip on the structure of the APC in Ogun state.

“To become the APC candidate, he needs to be affirmed by the Ogun APC and I don’t see that happening…even in a free and fair primary” an insider disclosed.

Checks revealed that Yayi and his strategists, despite their public display of bravado, are seriously considering this possibility and considering multiple options to avoid scenarios that might adversely affect their ambition.

One of the choices being considered is the use of an alternative political party to achieve the Senator’s gubernatorial ambition.

The race to secure the ticket of the All Progressives Congress has become flooded with Governor Amosun’s loyalists and political associates, a development that greatly dims Yayi’s chance of becoming flag bearer.

“A couple of them just needs to reach a compromise to snatch victory, they all belong to the same camp within the Ogun APC but Yayi is considered by all as an outsider” a source explained.

This emerging scenario is said to have transformed the option of utilizing an alternative political party – which has always been on the table – to achieve their gubernatorial ambition extraordinarily attractive for Yayi and his men at press time.
