Bode George, Tunde Adeniran Finally Edged Out Of PDP Chair Race

The Southwest Caucus of the Peoples Democratic Party has zoned the various National Executive positions allocated to it among the six states of the region with Ekiti and Lagos where National Chairmanship aspirants, Prof. Tunde Adeniran and Chief Olabode George hail from clinching the two most prominent executive positions; National Treasurer and Deputy National Women Leader respectively.

A six man committee headed by Senator Iyiola Omisore was set up at the Zonal meeting of the party held on Wednesday, 15 November, 2017 at the Ibadan Civic Centre, Idi Ape, Ibadan. The meeting was attended by the Zonal Chairman, Dr Eddy Oyefeso, Zonal Secretary, Rev Bunmi Jenyo, and other Zonal executives including the State Chairmen and Secretaries of the party in the six Southwest States as well as some invited stakeholders.

Other offices zoned at the meeting were Deputy National Publicity Secretary which went to Osun State, Male Ex-Officio zone to Ogun while Female Ex-Officio was zoned to Oyo State. Ondo State already has the Office of the National Vice Chairman.

Though the zoning arrangement was silent on the National Chairmanship position which all the Southwestern states bar Osun state has shown interest in, observers says Chairmanship aspirants from Ekiti and Lagos may have been tactically zoned out with the microzoning arrangement.

Insiders says the Southwest PDP stakeholders may have settled for a Chairmanship aspirant from Ogun but may be circumspect in making categorical statements on their position so as not to further exacerbate the fragile peace of the party in the zone.
