The 2018 edition of African Drum Festival staged in Abeokuta the capital of Ogun state surpassed all expectations.

It was so successful that it was labelled “African Culture at Its best”.

Widely applauded as “African Culture at its best”, the 3-day event was so successful that Minister for information and culture, Lai Muhammed declared that the event which has earned international recognition will be included in the national calendar.

And supporters of initiator and chief organizer Muyiwa Oladipo, a gubernatorial aspirant in Ogun state say the gains of the African Drum Festival is just a tip of the iceberg of what the state would benefit when Muyiwa becomes Governor of the state.

Oladipo is the commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Ogun state.

He has turned around what was largely tagged a dormant ministry reserved for outcasts to the pride of the state.

Right from the first edition, operating on a shoestring budget and plenty goodwill – he has done the state proud.

Insisting he has the backing and push of the Governor Ibikunle Amosun, Oladipo has consistently staged an event that surpassed benchmark, and refused to take credit for his efforts but let the government he serves ( and the state) bask in the glory.

But supporters of the man who declares he has “divine mandate” and is destined to become the next governor of Ogun state – here is a link for background : https://societynow.ng/i-am-destined-to-become-next-governor-of-ogun-state-ogun-commissioner-muyiwa-oladipo-confides/ – are having none of that.

Operating on the philosophy of you need to tell your success story to have credibility and be taken seriously , believers in the “mandate” of the man who revealed why he wants to become the next governor of Ogun state to societynow.ng in an exclusive chat in January – https://societynow.ng/exclusive-why-i-am-far-better-than-all-other-ogun-guber-aspirants-muyiwa-oladipo/ – are leveraging on the success story of the African Drum Festival to tell the people what is in store should Oladipo becomes the number one citizen of the state.

This year’s edition of the African Drum Festival tagged “Drumming For Advancement” witnessed attendance from high profile personalities such as the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adedibu, Alake of Egbaland Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, Obong Of Calabar Etubom Ekpo, Akarigbo of Remoland Oba Babatunde Ajayi, high ranking government personalities at the federal and state level , captains of industries and wealthy lovers of arts and cultures and a flurry of movies stars.

With cultural representations from 33 states of the federation, performances from cultural groups from a sprinkle of African countries were witnessed.
