Inside Gov Ayo Fayose, Ex Minister Musiliu Obanikoro’s Deep Rooted Silent War
…as Ekiti front man seeks information that got estranged friend out of detention
Friends, Governor Ayo Fayose and former Minister Musiliu Obanikoro are estranged.
And though this may be known in some quarters, digs by societynowng.com revealed the true cause of their raging conflict remains unknown to many.
Informants disclosed that coincidentally the cause of their quarrel is same with what is giving the duo grief with anti corruption agency Economic and Financial Crimes Commission – diverted arms funds used for political campaign.
Musiliu Obanikoro stands indicted of helping to divert N4.8billion meant for equipping the military as a serving minster of state for defence for the prosecution of the election that brought Ayo Fayose to power as Governor of Ekiti state.
Obanikoro was the arrow point of the plot that saw the funds flowed out of the office of the National Security Adviser under the stewardship of in detention Sambo Dasuki.
Information pieced together revealed that revealed that Obanikoro and Fayose became estranged prior to the kick off of investigation by EFCC.
The cause of the collapse in the ‘’friendship’’ is attributed to actions credited to Governor Fayose.
Insiders claim that immediately he assumed position of Governor of Ekiti state, Fayose gave Obanikoro ‘’cold shoulder’’.
‘’He refused to encourage Obanikoro to be near him, even the former minister’s sons that are currently indicted for been a part of the plot..Fayose adopted an indifferent attitude to them.

‘’his posture with them was that it was a mutually beneficiary engagement, so they should leave him to run his state without any baggage of loyalty for a help that wasn’t over his head’’ a source analysed.
Societynowng.com learnt the Obanikoro’s had taken the hint and gradually kept their distance from the Ekiti Governor.
‘’ this attitude naturally gradually spiralled into a silent resentment on both sides’’ socieynowng.com gathered.
Added digs revealed what eventually aggravated the ‘’situation’’ was the Governor’s stance when Obanikoro and his son’s scampered abroad to evade arrest and detention in the face of onslaught by EFCC over involvement in funding of election that transformed Fayose Chief Executive Officer of Ekiti state.
The Ekiti Governor is alleged to have retained his posture of ‘’keep your distance’’.
‘’he didn’t even call Obanikoro, even it was a pretence at solidarity..he didn’t do it’’ a source asserted.
More information reveals this was one of the equations that came into play when Obanikoro eventually made the decision to surrender self to EFCC.

Societynowng.com however gathered since the detention and release of the former minister based on reported agreement to pay back specified sum, his estranged friend and governor of Ekiti state is said to be at wits end to find out the untold story of the arrangement that got Obanikoro out of EFCC detention.
It is believed that outside of the repayment of ‘’looted funds’’ the former minister provided ‘’telling information’’ that greatly indicted all those involved in the arms fund diversion – particularly chief beneficiary Governor Ayodele Fayose.
This development is said to be in the face of outright denial by Governor Fayose of involvement in ‘’any diversion of arms fund’’.
A position Obanikoro initially stuck to before events forced a rethink out of him.
‘’At present, Fayose is keen to find out the information Obanikoro provided to the EFCC so that he can know what he truly faces…how he achieves his goal in the face of continuing silent war with Obanikoro or stoop to warm his way back into the former minister’s grace is what is not clear now’’ a source disclosed.
