An unravelling mess has taken further hold of the sports ministry.

And at the centre of the whole unbecoming drama is corruption as defined by funds diversion and mismanagement.

And the fallout of this latest twist is the sack of National Sports Commission Director General, Gbenga Elegbeleye and the diversion of $3.6m Mike Adenuga donation tainting the person of Sports Minister, Tammy Dagogo.

The fact that this occurrence comes back to back provides insight into deep insight into the depth of the rot at the sport ministry and the intrigues playing out.

Sports Minister Dagogo is believed to be the architect of the sack of Mr Elegbeye.

Insiders disclosed the ousting of Elegbeleye was the culmination of long term conflicts between the duo.

Elegbeye had survived earlier attempts to sweep him out of office based on strong ties to Anyim Pius Anyim, Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Both Elegbeleye and Anyim are said to be players of the same leisure sports and partakers of same past time that makes them constant visitors at listed pleasure havens, Hilton and Le Meridien Hotel.

And the extraordinary closeness provided Elegbeyele deep access to the Presidency – and attendant covering influence.

‘it was this cover that bailed him out of the issues that surrounded N3b spent by his commission when summoned by the House Committee on Public Account’ an insider claimed.

The influence that shielded him however thinned out after the Presidential election, Mr Elegbeleye like many the President relied on to deliver votes to ensure his re election failed in their given task – even after they were mobilised.

This development reportedly provided the much sought leeway by the Sports Minister very much against him to boot him out.

Minister Dagogo had reportedly leveraged on political and corruption charges against Elegbeleye to have his way.

He had reportedly played on accusations Elegbeleye sold out in Ondo against the President and equally provided ‘evidences’ of corruption charges against him.

Insiders revealed against the backdrop of the result posted in the election and his earlier boasts of ‘delivering’ while getting mobilisation fund, the booted out NSC boss could not salvage his ‘standing’ with the President.

And to compound his woes, the Minister had done his home work in corruption and abuse of office allegation proffered against him.

The President reportedly told him to go clear himself with his ‘superior’.

And seeing that his last minute pleas of innocence could save his job, sources claimed the embattled NSC boss revealed details of a dirty little secret he has on the man making corruption charges against him.

The information released detailed how the Minister siphoned a $3.6M fund made up of monetary gift made by Globacom chairman, Mike Adenuga to the super eagles and approved fund by President Goodluck Jonathan.

The allegations claims the fund handled by Minister Dagogo remains officially missing till dtate.

Findings however revealed despite a the release of the dirty little secret against the minister, Elegbeleye remains ousted as boss at the National Sports Commission at press time.
