The former governor of Ogun state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel is likely to emerge as the next national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party.

The election that would determine the occupier of the coveted position amongst PDP top shots comes up on December 9.

And emerging details have it that a strong push to make former governor Daniel the man to beat and copy is on.

Insiders disclosed the former governor is riding on his popularity amongst the young – and widespread influence in the top echelon of the party.

“He is a bridge builder and those pushing for his candidature are premising it on his being a link between the young and old, especially his proven ability to negotiate solutions in dicey political situations” a source stated.

Further digs revealed to achieve the aim of transforming Daniel into the PDP National Chairman, details available have it that efforts are ongoing to make another southwest party leader interested in the position – Olabode George to step down.

“There is huge pressure on Bode George to step down his ambition in the interest of the party and from feelers coming in, I am sure that is what would happen” an insider stated.

Gbenga Daniel, currently one of the strong financial muscle behind the PDP is currently at the forefront of campaign to bring all warring factions in the PDP under one “Umbrella”.
