The day of reckoning looms for Ex-Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan in the disputed dispute with powerful politician James Ibori.

The former Delta state number one man is said to be at war with the man he succeeded.

Though multiple sources confirmed it Uduaghan is claiming otherwise – for what is labeled political purposes.

Ibori is a strong voice in the politics of Delta, especially regarding issues affecting ruling party in the state – People’s Democratic Party.

He is said to have installed incumbent Governor Ifeanyi Okowa – while serving jail time for corruption conviction in the United Kingdom – in face of strong opposition from then sitting governor Uduaghan.

“This was one of the major reasons they fell out” a source claimed.

Uduaghan reportedly attempted to be a man of his own with his “godfather” in prison abroad.

But the move backfired insiders claim.

Ibori’s hold on the party structure was reportedly too much to be shaken off that easily – even in his absence.

After Ibori regained his freedom, Uduaghan – out of office – is said to be attempting to make amends underground while publicly insisting there is no rift between them.

Ibori is said to be giving him the “cold shoulder”.

Sources, however, disclosed the day of reckoning for Uduaghan now looms.

He wants to become a Senator.

And he intends to achieve the political ambition on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party – in the firm grip of Ibori.

Sources claim he would have become a Senator immediately after he left office as Governor but Ibori ensured the ambition did not see the light of the day because of the existing “quarrel” at that time.

“Whether he gets the party ticket and eventually becomes a Senator would tell the true story of his relationship with Ibori…that is his day of reckoning coming” a source pointed out.

Uduaghan is said to be calling in all favours and put all his got to ensure his Senatorial ambition “happens”, though how far he is willing to go should he fail to get Ibori to his side before the party takes the final stand on all aspirants remains to be seen.
