Bola Shagaya Faces Growing Opposition Over Hijacking Of Kwara PDP Based On Rapport With First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan

…receives knocks for congratulatory advert as ‘delegate to national conference’

Hajia Bola Shagaya, the business woman and acknowledged friend of Dame Patience, the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan is facing strident opposition in her home town in Kwara state.

And those very much against her interest are faithfulls of ruling political party, People’s Democratic Party in the state.

Shagaya a recognised influence peddler and corridors of power player is accused of hijacking party power in the state based on her close rapport with the President’s wife.

Sources claim she is using her vantage point of influence to determine access of chosen political chieftains to the Presidency- and at events the President and his cabinet attend.

She as accused of operating in a manner that whittles the influence and authority of more experienced and established politicians in the state. And grooming fresh leaders loyal and willing do her biddings.

Insight into her operations are provided with two major incidents:

.Shagaya manuevered to become the Chief host at the recent visit of President Jonathan to the state.

.She arranged a visit of ‘supposed’ kwara PDP party leaders to Aso Rock, allegedly made up of those obedient to her wishes.

Findings revealed the departure of powerful politician, Senator Bukola Saraki from PDP to rival All Progressive Congress (APC) afforded Shagaya the luxury of her actions.

Further digs however revealed, Serving Senator still in the PDP in the state, Simeon Ajibola highly slighted that a business woman with no established political background appears to have hijacked party power has become the arrow head of opposition to Shagaya’s antics.

He is said to have the backings of recognised state political leaders, Lanre Ogundeji, Bode Ojumu and others.

Insiders revealed at present an increasing campaign to reject Shagaya’s growing influence is on. And one of the battle point is opposition to her son, Sherrif’s House of Representative’s ambition.

And another derision of congratulatory messages to Shagaya as a delegate to the National Conference. The messages are labelled self sponsored to shore up political acceptance that is not there.

‘The argument is that a true politician and creditable candidate does not need to be congratulated for being a representative at such a gathering’ a source disclosed.

Sources confirmed the growing conflicts between the two camps is fast spiraling into open confrontations between supporters.
