Gbenga Daniel’s Men Ramps Up Efforts To Stop Abiodun’s Senatorial Dream
does not get close to the Ogun East senatorial seat.
Supporters of Gbenga Daniel remain relentless in their push to ensure Dapo Abiodun does not get close to the Ogun East senatorial seat.
Abiodun, currently serving his second term as governor of Ogun State, is believed to be eyeing the seat representing Ogun East after leaving office in 2027.
The seat is presently occupied by Daniel, who is determined to secure a second term in the Senate.
Daniel, a former two-term governor, commands what many observers describe as a more virile statewide political structure than Abiodun. However, Abiodun retains control of the “official chapter” of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State.
Despite the advantage Abiodun enjoys as the incumbent governor, Daniel’s loyalists remain undeterred in their push to ensure their principal retains the seat.
Their strategy has been two-pronged: amplifying Daniel’s achievements while spotlighting what they describe as the “inadequacies” of Abiodun, positioning him as an alternative not worth considering.
Sources say the strategy has been executed so effectively—particularly the narrative around Abiodun—that observers believe Daniel’s camp has done a better job defining the governor politically than opposition parties combined.
Yet, they appear far from done, riding on the gains already made as they intensify efforts to keep the seat firmly in Daniel’s camp.
