Plan To Stop Abiodun’s Chief-Of-Staff-Turned-Senator, Salisu’s 2nd Term Afloat – Insiders
will face a major challenge in retaining his seat
Talks milling around in the political circles of Ogun State suggest that a plot is afoot to stop Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu from securing a second term in office.
Salisu, who represents Ogun Central, is the immediate past Chief of Staff to Governor Dapo Abiodun.
He became a senator on the backbone of his extraordinary closeness to the state governor.
As one of the two most powerful figures during Abiodun’s first term, he was pushed to the Senate as part of the governor’s efforts to consolidate political power.
However, insiders say the senator will face a major challenge in retaining his seat in the next political dispensation. A coalition of political groups is reportedly backing a “more powerful and popular” political figure to take over the senatorial position.
The touted replacement is also a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), like Senator Salisu.
Insiders claim that “far-reaching understandings are being cemented to make this happen,” with discussions gaining momentum across political circles.
