A subtle but growing campaign has erupted in Ogun politics, as loyalists of Governor Dapo Abiodun demand the removal of appointees accused of undermining his administration.

The agitation, which has spilled onto social media, is aimed at pressuring the Governor to act against those allegedly working against him from within.

Supporters insist some officials, despite holding government appointments, openly take positions that damage both the administration’s image and Abiodun’s political standing.

The debate intensified on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, after staunch Abiodun supporter Aroboto Rasheed posted an article titled “The Unspoken Code: When Political Loyalty Becomes a Currency of Betrayal.”

The opposition PDP has seized on the matter, with Korede Oladepo — a close aide of Ladi Adebutu, the party’s leading figure in Ogun — leading the charge.

At its core is the fierce succession battle within the APC, as key blocs jostle to decide who takes over in 2027. For Abiodun, the struggle is also about securing his influence and relevance after leaving office.
