Obasa Back As Lagos Speaker For Good – Insiders Declare
after testy attempts to reclaim his position.
Insiders say Mudashiru Obasa is back as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly for good.
This assertion comes despite claims that he was reinstated only to resign as a face-saving measure following his famous January 13, 2025, removal.
“But the story has changed. After he was sworn in, the talks now are that the status quo should be maintained,” insiders disclosed.
Obasa was reinstated as Speaker on March 3, 2025, after testy attempts to reclaim his position.
The initial talks suggested he would resign within three days to allow the election of a more widely accepted legislator as Speaker.

“But it appears that is no longer happening. The power brokers who negotiated his return now say things should be left as they are, and Obasa should continue running the House of Assembly,” according to insiders.
Obasa has been the Speaker of the Lagos Assembly since 2015 and was removed in January in a popular “revolt” against his “brand of leadership”—a removal that “party leaders” opposed and worked to overturn through six weeks of political intrigues that attracted national interest.
