How Sanwo-Olu Has Made The Most Lucrative Ministry In Lagos Unattractive
Eniola Ajayi
The Governor of Lagos state Babajide Sanwo-Olu is working hard to ensure probity and accountability in all the spheres of governance.
The attempt to achieve this objective has made what is widely labeled the most lucrative ministry in Lagos State unattractive.
The ministry in charge of Land was one of the most coveted by government workers and political appointees.
Insiders, however, disclosed that the Governor has reversed this perception with a raging probe of the past and present actions of players in that space.
“It has become a hot zone with sanctions being belted out for different infractions” societynow.ng learned.
The information abound has it that many players in that zone have grown fat helping people bye-pass due process for private gains.
Many of the approvals have resulted in the execution of real estate projects that mess up the larger plan of the government for a greater Lagos.
“One of such developments is the massive residence that was pulled down in Banana Island, while property owners and other beneficiaries of actions that bye passes due process suffer such heavy losses the government workers found to be culpable in the process are facing investigation and sanction” societynow.ng learned.
The investigation into the “shady practices” that have enriched the government workers involved and tainted the integrity of the ministry is said to be widespread and turned the place into a hot zone for all.
“The government has chosen to be proactive by looking and seeking a way out of the problems created by the bye-pass of due process rather than stumbling on it. The sanction is naturally meant to serve as a deterrent” societynow.ng learned.
