Bishop Orders Funeral Ceremonies Should Not Be More Than A Day
banned lavish burial
Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese has ordered that funeral ceremonies in his area of influence should not exceed one day and that they must be conducted within two months after death.
“The funeral ceremony must not exceed one day, and the corpse must not be preserved beyond two months,” the Diocese’s Media arm, Fides Media credited the Bishop as saying.
The Bishop referenced the rule while preaching at St Patrick’s Catholic Church, Agulu.
This development comes a couple of years after Bishop Ezeokafor banned lavish burial ceremonies which include serving food and drinks at burial ceremonies.
