Lagos State Drivers Institute Opens Two New Training Centres

Lagos State Drivers Institute has opened two more training centres to cope with the surge in training needs of applicants.
The two training annexes are located at Oshodi Isolo Local Government Secretariat, Oshodi and No 5 Adele Road, Off Warehouse Road, Apapa, Lagos.
Speaking during the facility tour of the training centres, the General Manager of Lagos State Driver Institute (LASDRI), Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu said that driving schools on the Apapa and Oshodi axis of the state are essentially necessary for mastering dense, chaotic traffic, preventing accidents and navigating strict local regulations.
These locations make a heavy demand on the institute to provide structured, comprehensive training that equips motorists with essential vehicle control skills, defensive driving techniques, and a thorough understanding of traffic laws.
Tiamiyu explained that formal driving education would ensure drivers understand all road signs, lane disciplines and traffic laws to avoid unnecessary impoundment or penalties, adding that professional training equips drivers with the hazard perception and spatial awareness needed to maneuver safety around massive articulated vehicles.
She noted that Oshodi and Apapa remain a major transport and commercial hub with heavy complex traffic, hence, it requires professional driving Instructors to teach drivers to anticipate erratic behaviours, safely navigate BRT lanes and manage aggressive “ Danfo” drivers.
Commenting on the structural design of the training facility, Director/Engineer Munirudeen Bajulaiye explained that each training facility was designed to accommodate about 25 trainees at a training session, besides an administrative and convenience apartment.
