A pushback against one of the most talked-about political ambitions in Ogun State has emerged—from an unknown quarter.
Sources confirmed that mysterious individuals are circulating materials against the touted senatorial ambition of former Governor Ibikunle Amosun.

Amosun, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is the immediate past senator representing Ogun Central.

There are indications he is preparing a return to the Senate as part of a political arrangement expected to boost the fortunes of the APC in the 2027 elections in Ogun State.

The move would take the senatorial seat from the incumbent—and former Chief of Staff to Governor Dapo Abiodun—Salisu Shaibu.

According to sources, Amosun’s loyalists had been enjoying a free run, laying the groundwork for their principal’s campaign without opposition—until recently.

“Suddenly, some persons started circulating unsigned statements opposing Amosun’s return to the Senate, and they have been very intentional,” a source said.

This development has begun to raise eyebrows and fuel widespread speculation, largely due to the mystery surrounding those behind the move.

However, despite the growing push and counter-push, Amosun—who controls one of Ogun State’s major political structures—has yet to publicly declare his intention.
