Chairman of the newly restructured Bank of Agriculture
Niger State Governor, Farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago, has congratulated Mohammed Babangida, son of former military president Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, on his appointment as Chairman of the newly restructured Bank of Agriculture.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, Governor Bago described the appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well-deserved and a welcome development for the agricultural sector.
The Governor commended President Tinubu for finding Mohammed Babangida worthy of the important role, noting that the appointment aligns with the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda and ongoing efforts to achieve national food sovereignty.
Expressing confidence in Babangida’s leadership, Governor Bago said the new chairman’s diligence, hard work, and commitment would help drive the transformation of agribusiness in Nigeria and catalyse the agricultural revolution needed to reposition the country’s economy.
He added that the restructured Bank of Agriculture, under Babangida’s leadership, is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing sustainable farming practices and supporting farmers across the country.
Mohammed Babangida, 53, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Business Communication from the European University in Montreux, Switzerland. He also completed an executive program in Corporate Governance at Harvard Business School in 2002.
President Tinubu approved Babangida’s appointment along with seven others, some of whom are to serve as chairpersons or Directors-General of key federal agencies.
