Ahmedo, Please, We Just Want You To Take Care Of Your Father – Former Associates Plead With Asake
who adopted his mother’s name
Former associates of music star Asake insist they have no issue with the globally recognized artiste, whose real name is Ahmed Ololade Odunsi.
The musician, who adopted his mother’s name, Asake, as his stage name, is facing accusations of neglecting his father.
His father, Pa Fatai Odunsi, famously known by the street name “Malo,” recently went viral for soliciting public help to manage his deteriorating health. He claimed that his internationally acclaimed son had abandoned him and refused to pick his calls.
Amid unverified claims by some of Asake’s fans that his father was an absentee parent trying to reap where he did not sow, many who knew the family have come forward to dispute these assertions.

Numerous residents of Lagos Island, familiar with the family from when they lived in the area, have taken to social media en masse to defend Asake’s father—insisting he was a model parent who catered to the music star and even sold his belongings to provide him with a good education.
However, those genuinely concerned about the family, while addressing the unwanted history surrounding the breakdown of his parents’ marriage, have sent a clear message to Asake: “We don’t have any issue with you, we just want you to take care of your father.”
The Lagos Island residents’ plea for Asake to care for his father is amplified by a trending video featuring one of them, popularly known on social media as MC Gaaji Owolabi Starboy.
Although they acknowledged that Asake rented a highbrow apartment for his father and bought him a sport utility vehicle—which he struggles to maintain—the concerned individuals insist that abandoning his father has rendered the gesture meaningless.
