Federal Road Safety Commission’s Corps Marshall, Boboye Olayemi Oyeyemi says the law does not provide exemptions to anyone to cover his number plate.

‘’It is lawlessness’’ he declares.

The FRSC Headman made this assertion in an interview published in newspaper, Punch today.

He was reacting to a poser concerning why his men are afraid of arresting vehicles with covered number plate.

His response is reproduced as sourced

‘’ It is only a mad man that would stand in front of a moving train. You don’t expect my men to stand in front of a convoy with covered number plates or even a vehicle with covered plate. The question should have been, is it lawful to cover number plates? The law does not provide exemptions to anyone to cover his number plate, I stand by that, it is lawlessness and I have taken it up with the IG and with the other security agencies and I think I would take it up again. I am aware a signal was even issued on it by the IG. The IG and I would work together on it. It is brazen disobedience of traffic rule and regulations in Nigeria and it’s becoming a status symbol and we should not allow it. Criminals are hiding under it to perpetrate crime; this is something that must be stopped. Innocent people had been knocked down, maimed for life because they couldn’t identify the vehicle number, they go scot-free. ’’
