Scary! Details As Medical Association Endorses Directive Making Hospitals Turn Back Sick People -Unattended – Irrespective Of Ailments

The Nigerian Medical Association has affirmed the directive that is making Doctors and Nurses turn back sick people, unattended to, at public health care centers.
The health carers are refusing to attend to patients without Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that was promised by the government.
The grouse is that they are losing an increasing number of colleagues to Covid-19 and the Federal Government through the ministry of health promised to back the “protective gear” available to the health carers societynow.ng learned.
“But the government has not been forthcoming with the provision of the PPE, so while the Doctors and Nurses make themselves available at their workplaces they refuse to attend to sick people until the protective gears are made available” societynow.ng learned.
This development has resulted in the worsened health situation of many sick people and in some cases death.
But the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has thrown its weight behind the health carers.
Speaking on the issue Dr. Francis Faduyile, the President, Nigerian Medical Association asserted that “that the doctors make themselves available at their workplaces shows they are ready to work but the government needs to provide what is needed’
Faduyile who spoke via phone call on TVC morning program ” Your View” today (Monday, May 11, 2020) in validating the position of the NMA emphasized that health care workers that got infected with Covid-19 treated patients with seemingly routine illness without the protection of the PPE.
He cited the instance of a Doctor that delivered a baby through the regular caesarian operation but ended with a Covid-19 infection because there was no safety gear in place to protect him.
“Obviously, with the Federal Government unable to provide the promised PPE to health workers at public hospitals the country may be in a very bad batch as health challenges soar” a source pointed out.
