Ooni Moves Against Olubadan In Fierce Fight With Ajimobi

Emerging details have it that the Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi appeared to have taken sides in the fight between the Governor of Oyo state Abiola Ajimobi and Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji.

The Olubadan is currently at war with the governor of his state for upgrading twenty one of his chiefs to positions of kings.

The Olubadan was the only King in Ibadan before the move by Ajimobi.

The development which scuppered the “rosy” rapport between the embattled king and governor has degenerated to open war – with the Olubadan dragging the state helmsman to court to force a reversal of government decision.

But a picture that came to fore appears to show Ooni’s position in the fight between king and state.

Ooni is seen hosting the new kings and posing with them for a picture.

The move is now interpreted as an endorsement of the new kings by the Ooni.

A development which hugely takes away from Olubadan’s case based on Ooni’s standing in the comity of kings.

The Ooni is widely acknowledged as the number 1 Yoruba based in the reverence given to the stool he occupies.
