‘’It Has Become An Embarrassment!’’…Party Leaders Wail To Tinubu Over Speaker Obasa’s Mounting Allegations Of Fraud

Emerging details have it that the mounting allegations of fraud against Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudashiru Obasa have started taking its toll.

The speaker is under sustained pressure over the allegations of corruption with his chief accuser, Saharareporters dishing out daily accusations that the Speaker siphoned millions of Naira of public funds – with documents – through companies he has stakes in with his wife roped into the mess.

Societynow.ng checks revealed that while Obasa and his team refuse to respond directly to the mounting allegations,  public interest in the development continues to soar.

Insiders revealed miffed by the unraveling mess, some All Progressive Congress Party (APC) leaders in Lagos state have approached shots caller, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ‘’ do something’’ about the situation.

Societynow.ng learned that the ‘’party leaders” told Tinubu that the continuing silence of the party and other stakeholders – in the face of the mounting allegations of corruption backed with documents – makes it look like  ‘’We are all guilty by association like we are shielding Obasa from probe…We look culpable in the eyes of the electorates’’

Multiple sources disclosed that the ‘’party leaders’’ want Tinubu to let the party take a public stand that abhors corruption on the issue, and a probe into the ‘’allegations already in public space’’ launched by ‘’relevant authority’’.

Societynow.ng learned that Asiwaju Tinubu who is said to have to have ‘’a soft spot’’ for Obasa, however, has refused to honor such ‘’requests’’ – for now.

‘’Asiwaju understands the implications of giving in to such sugar-coated demands, it means Obasa who has proven to be fiercely loyal may well be on his way out of office and political relevance…and there is the issue of attendant squabbles over who takes his place and avoidable rivalry that opponents might exploit to create a bigger wedge, not to talk of how loyal the new person would be if it comes to such’’ a source pointed out.
