Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has expressed sadness over the death of former Students’ Union Government (SUG) President of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU), Comrade Etimbuk Daniel, who reportedly died at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Enugu State.

Eno, in a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, described Daniel’s death as a devastating loss to his family, Akwa Ibom State and the student community.

The governor said the deceased was a promising young leader whose life was cut short while serving the country.
“I received with sadness the news of the tragic passing of Comrade Etimbuk Daniel, a promising young leader whose life was cut short while answering the call to serve our nation,” he said.

Eno, who extended condolences on behalf of the state government and people, sympathised with Daniel’s family, the leadership and members of the National Association of Akwa Ibom State Students (NAKISS), and students of Akwa Ibom origin across the country and beyond.

He also extended his condolences to SUG presidents across tertiary institutions in the state.

Describing the death as a significant loss, the governor said the late student leader had a bright future ahead of him.

“Our youths are our future, and losing such a brilliant young man, with a bright future ahead of him, is deeply painful. His passing represents a huge loss to our state and the student community he served with dedication,” he said.

The governor prayed to God to grant the deceased’s family, friends, colleagues and the entire student community the strength to bear the loss.
