Beautiful personality Funke Kuti just had a near head on experience with fraudsters.

Sources confirmed the power behind rising brand and artiste management outfit, F.K Management had her e mail hijacked.

And the scammers deployed a simple but seemingly effective strategy that would have resulted in ‘devastating’ and ‘alarming’ cost to Funke, family and friends.

The questionable characters behind the attempt – after hijacking the email address –

sent out very strategic messages.

The clincher for business partners, family and friends very family with Funke are the mobile numbers.

The only difference are ’32’ in the middle.

And that’s what made the attempted fraud grave.

And they had a ready female voice to take up calls on the listed number!

‘It was a really daring plot’ a friend of Funke said.

According to Funke ‘the whole thing was very surprising..I just got a blackberry message and I was like what?…I immediately sent out a mass broadcast’

It was after this discovery that stories of near fatal experiences started floating in.

Those who actually conversed with the fraudsters disclosed they went as far having an account in Duba.

‘Some told me, an impersonator she spoke with on phone claimed to be stranded in Dubai..and also sent account details to send some money…a couple of thousands of dollars I think’ she said.

Though she stated to be at a loss on how her e-mail was taken over, she how disclosed ‘the situation is under control’.

‘I have retrieved my mail..am now in control of my correspondence’ she said

Findings however revealed the Funke Kuti’s incident is not an isolated case.

The scammer’s are fast improvising, utilising pass on tell tales of their targets in perfecting their fraud.
