Female inmates at Kikrikiri prisons, Lagos are currently experiencing an ‘inhuman treatment’.

Information filtering in indicates quite a chunk of them in general population area currently experience monthly menstrual circle without any form of ‘guard’.

Prison authority is said not to make any provision for them to have sanitary pads or related material.

There are allegation such a provision is termed ‘ luxury’ for the inmates.

It however not clear whether officials diverted the materials or funds meant for it procurement.

Workers at the place equally refused to confirm whether provision for ‘the material’ is made the budget for running of the place.

Investigations by societynowng.com however revealed that the incarcerated at the receiving end of this dehumanising treatment have resorted to self help.

They now badger visitors, especially visiting religious groups for donations of the Sanitary Pads to take care of the issue.

Informants claim some of those affected went to the extreme measure of raising their ‘clothing’ for the visitors to establish their claim.
