Federal Fire Service Trains Over 5000 Army Recruits

The Federal Fire Service , Osun State Command, has reinforced its commitment to building a safer and more disaster-resilient Nigeria by providing comprehensive fire safety training and practical firefighting demonstrations for 5,300 recruits of the Depot Nigerian Army, Osogbo.

The exercise, held on Friday, 24 July 2026, formed part of the Service’s sustained collaboration with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to strengthen emergency preparedness and equip personnel with the knowledge and practical skills required to prevent, respond to, and effectively manage fire emergencies.

The training featured detailed lectures on fire prevention, emergency response procedures, basic firefighting techniques, and critical fire safety practices. The lecture session was facilitated by DSF Adegboyega Hammed, while the practical firefighting exercise was led by the Command’s Operations Commander, DSF R.B. Omisore, who demonstrated the correct use of firefighting equipment and safe response strategies during fire incidents.

The highly interactive session gave the recruits the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired during the training, demonstrating a commendable understanding of fire safety principles and emergency response procedures.

Army authorities commended the Federal Fire Service, Osun State Command, for its professionalism, technical expertise, and valuable contribution to the training programme, describing the exercise as timely and essential in preparing personnel to respond effectively to emergency situations.

The Controller-General, Federal Fire Service, Olumode Samuel Adeyemi, MBA, MDRM, FCNA, ACTI, reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships with the Armed Forces and other critical institutions in promoting safety and national resilience. He also urged Nigerians to embrace fire safety as a shared responsibility by observing basic preventive measures, reporting fire emergencies promptly, and supporting ongoing public safety initiatives. According to him, sustained public awareness and preparedness remain vital to protecting lives, property, and national assets.
