EFCC Detains Hope Foundation Boss, Clement Ola, Others Over N200m MTN Foundation Charity Fund Fraud
…accountant forced to resign
+spokesperson plays hide & seek.
Anti corruption agency- the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is currently investigating a grave matter.
Certain individuals are alleged to have fraudulently diverted fund meant to ‘uplift the lives of the less privileged to personal use.
And at the centre of this unfolding shame are two major partners MTN foundation (the CSR arm of giant telecommunication company- MTN) and Hope Foundation Nigeria.
Some administrators at Hope Foundation headed by C.E.0 Mr Ola Clement are alleged to have siphoned money meant for charity work. Sources claimed about N500m is involved. M.T.N Foundation is said to have provided about N200m of the ‘ fraud undergoing investigation’.
Sources confirmed based on petition written by ‘concerned parties’- Mr Ola Clement, C.E.0 Hope Foundation Nigeria was arrested and detained by the E.F.C.C for two days as part of investigation into the matter. Same for the organisation’s accountant, Mr Kayode Owolabi and ‘others’.
Insiders revealed after their release on administrative bail- Mr Owolabi was compelled to resign over the matter.
But sources insist ‘investigation’ into the matter is on going.
Further digs revealed the accused in the unfolding scam are tagged ‘silent men of means’ by those who know them.
More findings by societynowng.com revealed talks of money laundering have joined the frayed in the ongoing investigation by the E.F.C.C.
‘The E.F.C.C is exploring means of establishing theory that the missing funds might have just used Hope Foundation as a passage for disappearance by some people’ a source disclosed.
Another analysed the implication of this ‘what this means is that people on both sides, that is Hope Foundation and M.T.N Foundation might be culpable’
Investigation into the matter is intense we learnt.
Societynowng.com’s efforts to get Mr Ola Clement’s position on the matter were not honoured. He refused to respond to text message or pick calls.
Mr Funsho Aina- spokes person for M.T.N responded to text messages- but his subsequent behaviour warranted this text message from us ‘Greetings Mr Aina…I am a journalist- the ethics of my job says I get the other side’s response…you refused to state it on phone (which by the way is the essence of your company’s operation), you sent e mail addresses that kept returning messages…and now refused to pick my calls or return it…let it be on record that I have fulfilled the aspect that requires your response…thankfully you are aware of the issue at stake via earlier communication…vry best always’
He later got in touch, provided alternate e-mail, but is yet to respond at press time.
