Besty, the wife of the Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki holds a record in the nation’s football circle.
Information at hand revealed that the Managing Director BOI Investment and Trust Company Ltd – a subsidiary of the Bank of Industry- is known for organizing the only known and recognized preseason tournament in Nigeria.
The completion is known as the Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament (BOWFT).

The second edition which was held in September 2022 saw Robo FC of Lagos defeat Edo Queens by a scoreline of 1-0 to emerge champion.
The champion got N5m prize money while the second runner-up got N2.5m.
The information available revealed that the level of organization associated with BOWFT is such that the competition was officially recognized by football’s world governing body as a model competition earlier in the year.
Aside from women’s football the holder of a B.Sc and MSc. in Accounting from the University of Lagos and an alumnus of the Kellog’s School of Business Executive Management Program, USA is said to have great interest in the plight of the girl-child and widows.
