Details: Mailafia Resigns After Questioning By DSS

The former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN), Obadiah Mailafia, has resigned from the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, (NIPSS).

Mailafia who announced his resignation during a chat with newsmen said he wasn’t pressurised to resign.

He noted that the ongoing killings in Southern Kaduna had motivated his resignation.

Mailafia had recently been interrogated by the Department of State Security (DSS), Jos office twice over his recent comments on Nigeria’s insecurity issues.

Mailafia said, “I have resigned from NIPPS.

“Nobody asked me or pressurised me to resign. I did it on my own.

“I decided that I cannot continue working, with all my good conscience, when my people are continually being killed and genocide is being committed against my people.

“That was the reason I gave, and the management has accepted my resignation.”

He maintained that his resignation is for the best interest of everybody.
