Charles Oyelesi
While street soldiers of those out for him were still struggling to find how to create a crisis, over competence, for his administration regarding the handling of the recent tragedy in Ogun state, Governor Dapo Abiodun flipped the coin with a masterstroke.
He silenced the attempts and took steps that earned him more points with the public.
A fuel tanker exploded while descending the bridge at Kuto, Abeokuta rammed into other vehicles and exploded on Tuesday, January 19, 2020.
Six people died and multiple vehicles were razed.
The information machinery of the state government jumped on the situation with minute by minute updates that sealed up any chance of mischief with information that might embarrass the government.
Responders were quickly mobilized to the scene of the tragedy and the situation handled in a way that caused limited “stress for road users.”
The governor made it a priority to be at the scene in show of strong empathy.

He connected with the grieving public with the disclosure that the government would be taking care of those who suffered injuries in the unfortunate incident.
“We have invited burn specialists to treat victims with severe burns, and all victims whom I visited at the State Hospital, Ijaye, and the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, will be taken off by the State Government.
My heart is with the families of the six casualties, as Ogun State grapples with this tragic event.” Abiodun announced.
The Governor also allayed fears of a possible re-occurrence of such a tragedy in the future with the disclose that “Towards avoiding a recurrence of today’s fatal tanker fire that occurred in Abeokuta, tanker drivers will henceforth no longer use overhead bridges across Ogun State, with stringent penalties to be put in place by the State Ministry of Transportation.
When I assessed the accident scene, I was made to understand the fire was caused by a brake failure and resultant collisions, which could have escalated but for the quick intervention of responders.”
Societynow.ng gathered that these moves have further ramped up support for Governor with talks that favor the government’s handling of the situation about town.
