‘David Mark’s Continuous Stay In The Senate Has Become An Embarrassment To His People’ -Town Man, Lawrence Onoja

Lawrence Onoja, a town man of the Senate President has described his continuous stay in the upper chamber as ’embarrassing’.

Mr Mark has spent 15yrs in the Senate.

Onoja also a fellow party man with the Senate President beliefs such a long spell by an individual portrays his people to the world as lacking ‘a better candidate’

The former Benue state gubernatorial aspirant offers himself as an alternative to Mr Mark in the senate.

He claims the body language of David Mark who assumed office as a Señator in 199- and became Senate President in 2007 suggests he is seeking yet another term.

Onoja vows to stop him, even if it means disagreement with the party echelon.

In an interactive session with media men, Onoja stated ‘Only the PDP primaries will stop me. The party has not endorsed Mark and nobody has given him any automatic ticket. If they do that, I will not agree because it is not democratic. The party will not rob me’

The ex federal permanent secretary in the ministry of defence claims took up the pursuit to free his people from ‘the long unacceptable reign of Mark in the senate because the people have been yearning for a change ‘.

He also added the need for indigenes of other districts (outside of Otukpo) to be given a chance as another incentive for taking up the challenge against Mr Mark.

He insisted the people of the Idoma race are ‘yearning for a change’ and vowed to redeem the people from what he severally described ‘an embarrassment’ that portrays ‘to the outside world that there are no better persons than Mark to represent our people’
