Information filtering to societynowng.com revealed supporters of Ogun politicians, Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress and Gbenga Kaka of the Social Democratic Party are currently engaged in intense campaign.

And their objective is simple – who takes over the almost vacant Ogun East Senatorial Seat.

Senator Elect, Kashamu Buruji after a long running battle was arrested on May 25 2015 after a 7hours siege at his Lekki Lagos home by law enforcers.

The move is expected to signal the beginning of extradition procedure against business turned politician declared wanted by a United States Court over a drug charge indictment.

He is currently placed under House Arrest at his Lekki home and is expected to appear in court on Monday May 25 according to statement issued by arresting agency National Drug Law Enforcement Agency – NDLEA.

Digs by societynowng.com revealed that while his arrest drama played out opponents in the last general elections that threw him up as winner despite status as an international fugitive hit the streets of his constituency playing up the incident to lobby for votes as perfect replacement.

Leading the race to take over the seat of the Senator Elect taken as lost in the face of his present travails are Prince Dapo Abiodun and incumbent Senator Gbenga Kaka. Both emerged second and third respectively in the recently conducted election.

Additional digs by societyowng.com revealed that both Kaka and Abiodun had been preparing themselves for this day and according to a source, pointers to this are abound.

Dapo widely described as good friend and favourite of re elected governor Ibikunle Amosun to win the Ogun East Senatorial seat had gone ahead to challenge Kashamu’s victory at the election tribunal – while on his party Kaka commissioned an array of constituency project meant to endear him to the people just last week.

‘Kashamu’s arrest is something they appeared to have foreseen and obviously been preparing for underground…their campaigners going public on the day Kashamu was arrested is just facing reality and trying to make good use of an advantage’ a source on ground defined the situation.

Societynowng.com learnt those campaigning for his seat are working on the premise that electoral body INEC – Independent National Electoral Commission – would declare the seat of Senator Elect, Buruji Kashamu vacant with his extradition to the United States of America to face drug charges.

They are said to be mightily emboldened by assertions by the office of the Attorney General that the siege that led to the arrest of the embattled Senator Elect at his Lekki Lagos home is ‘legal’
