There is an assumption in high society about Neya, the daughter of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

The belief is that the inheritor of her father’s position as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Sun newspaper—a publication founded by the former Abia State governor—does not like to interact with others.

However, insiders say the perception that Neya is choosy about the people she relates with is erroneous.

“The reality is that Neya is very shy, and she masks this shyness by avoiding interactions, especially at public events,” sources say.

The senator’s daughter, who is working to achieve recognition beyond the shadow of her highly connected father, was recently honored with the Young Global Leaders Award at the THISDAY Newspaper Commemoration Awards.
