Senator Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former Governor of Ogun State and current representative of Ogun East Senatorial District, has praised security agencies and Ogun State residents following the successful rescue of former state lawmaker Hon. Maruf Musa.

Musa was kidnapped by armed men on the evening of December 30, 2025, around 8pm while praying in Ibiade community, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.

The incident created widespread concern throughout the state, especially within Ogun East Senatorial District.

In a Thursday statement, Senator Daniel expressed gratitude for Musa’s safe release after approximately three days in captivity. He attributed the successful rescue to effective intelligence work and strong cooperation between security agencies.

Daniel specifically recognized the Inspector-General of Police, the Department of State Services, and the Ogun State branches of both the Police and DSS for their swift action and professionalism. He noted that their coordinated response demonstrated Nigeria’s security institutions’ dedication to protecting citizens despite ongoing security challenges.

The senator also acknowledged Ogun State residents, particularly those in Ogun East, for their prayers and support during Musa’s captivity, describing the community response as “deeply moving” and a reflection of “collective strength.”

While acknowledging the incident as a sobering reminder of ongoing security concerns, Daniel expressed hope that Musa’s safe return demonstrates that coordinated efforts can overcome such threats.

“The safe return of Hon. Maruf Musa strengthens our confidence that with unity, prayer and professional security engagement, we can overcome insecurity,” Daniel stated.

He offered prayers for Musa’s complete recovery and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting safety initiatives throughout Ogun State, urging continued collective action against criminal activity in the region.
