Old enemies in the same political association, People’s Democratic Party – Dame Patience, wife of immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan and Governor of Bayelsa state, Seriake Dickson have renewed their rivalry.

And as usual the objective is clear, control of the government of Bayelsa state.

Before she suffered a reversal of fortune in might and influence with her husband’s loss of his re election bid as President, the former first lady had reportedly initiated moves to unseat Governor Dickson as state helms by ensuring he does not get the PDP ticket for re election.

Informants confirmed one of her husband’s aides, Waripa Dufada – now estranged over refusal to hand over millions kept in trust after the presidential election loss – was pencilled down as replacement.

Waripa was said to have gone as far as initiate takeover campaigns against the sitting governor of the state both within and outside the party.

The situation became so bad that Dame Patience avoids situations that would bring her together with Governor Dickson in public – and shunned him openly whenever such transpired to show the world her angst for him.

Informants claimed the governor’s attempt to make the situation right through the influence of the then President Goodluck Jonathan was rebuffed.

The wife was reportedly more influential in government and party circles than her husband.

Governor Dickson, a subject of attraction from opposition party now in control of the federal government was forced to fight back to retain a measure of respect for his office and person.

He moved against supporters of the Dame and Goodluck Jonathan’s in his domain, which incidentally is the home stead of the then President by disbanding support associations and expelling their loyalists from the party.
