2027: Adebutu’s Name Will Be Published, Ogun PDP Assures After INEC Omission
maintained that the omission would not affect its determination to contest the election
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has expressed confidence that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will publish the name of its governorship candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, following his omission from the commission’s list.
The party said Adebutu remained its candidate for the 2027 governorship election, insisting that he had fulfilled the membership registration requirements within the stipulated period.
In a statement dated Saturday, October 10, 2026, the Ogun State PDP Publicity Secretary, Kayode Adebayo, urged party members and supporters to remain calm while expressing confidence in the candidate’s eligibility.
The party maintained that Adebutu had not left the PDP and had completed the party’s digital registration process within the designated period.
According to the statement, his membership card had been printed, verified and submitted to INEC at the appropriate time.
The development comes as political parties prepare for the 2027 general elections, with the emergence and recognition of candidates expected to remain important issues in the preparations for the polls.
The PDP attributed Adebutu’s omission to alleged pressure on the electoral commission, claiming that the development reflected concerns about the forthcoming election.
However, the party did not provide supporting evidence for the allegation in its statement.
The PDP urged INEC to publish Adebutu’s name, expressing confidence that the issue would be resolved in its favour.
It also called on its members and supporters across the state to remain focused on their political activities and preparations for the election.
“We enjoin the good people of Ogun State to be calm and rest assured that our governorship candidate, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu’s name will be published by INEC and he will emerge as the Governor of Ogun State in the 2027 general elections,” the statement said.
The party further maintained that the omission would not affect its determination to contest the election, adding that it remained confident in Adebutu’s candidacy.
It described its preparations for the 2027 governorship poll as ongoing and urged supporters not to be distracted by the development.
The PDP also reiterated its commitment to seeking electoral support from residents of Ogun State, saying it intended to campaign on the promise of improved leadership and positive change.
The development adds another issue to the political contest ahead of the 2027 Ogun governorship election, as parties work to consolidate their positions and prepare their candidates for the electoral process.
