“Hold Oborevwori Responsible If Anything Happens To Me, Family” — Omo-Agege Declares

Former Deputy President of the 9th Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, has raised the alarm over what he described as “disturbing and increasingly credible threats” to his life and those of his family members in Delta State.

Omo-Agege, who is the Delta Central senatorial district candidate, raised the alarm as he commenced his campaign tour of the eight local government areas in the district.

In a statement, Omo-Agege said the alleged threats were emanating from the Delta State Government House in Asaba.

He said he was drawing the attention of Nigerians, the international community, civil society organisations, the media and security agencies to the situation.

“As I commence the campaigns, beginning today with stops in Uvwie Local Government Area, and the other seven Local Government Areas, I want the Nigerian public, the international community, civil-society organisations, the media, and all security agencies to take formal notice,” he said.

The former lawmaker further stated that he would hold Governor Sheriff Oborevwori responsible should anything happen to him or any member of his family.

“Should anything untoward happen to me or members of my family, the Nigerian people and more particularly the Urhobo people of Delta Central senatorial district should HOLD the Governor of Delta State, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori responsible and accountable,” Omo-Agege said.

He did not provide details of the alleged threats in the statement but urged relevant authorities and other stakeholders to take formal notice of his concerns.

The warning comes as Omo-Agege begins his campaign activities across Delta Central, where he is seeking the support of voters in the senatorial district.

Omo-Agege, a former Deputy President of the 9th Senate, signed the statement as the Delta Central senatorial district candidate.
